Urge Senate Committee to Hold a Bill Hearing

GREETINGS DEAFBLIND FRIENDS AND ALLIES!

Hayley and Kris Cué here, with an update and a very urgent request regarding our Co-Navigator bill: House Bill (HB) 140.

On April 4th the full House passed HB140 to engrossment.  And on April 12th our bill was assigned to the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services (HHS). This committee, as in the House, will (hopefully) hold a public hearing on our bill.

BUT, we do not have the full support of this committee, and more work needs to be done to persuade them of the vital need for Co-Navigator services in Texas. So we request that if — and only if — you are a “constituent” of one of these committee members, to personally contact them to request that they set a public hearing on HB 140 and vote it favorably out of committee. How do you know if you are a constituent of one of these committee members? In the section below, we’ve listed them, along with the district number & major cities that they represent and their contact information.  Your state senate district number is listed on your voter registration card. Or you can look it up at https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home, by entering your address or zip code. Your state senator (and district number) will be listed in the third box down.

Again, you must live in one of the nine districts listed below.

We will continue to keep you updated, and please continue to help us spread the word.

PT Hugs!!!
